Science for a Hungry World podcast series
I wrote, shot and produced a six-part podcast series for NASA about how satellite data is helping ensure food security on Earth. I profiled scientists and researchers, explained how satellite data can be used to make decisions in real time and broke ground as the first multi-part series about Earth Science for the agency. Utilizing interviews, animations and data visualizations the videos provide in-depth information about how science is applicable in our daily lives. The series attracted over 130k views on YouTube and drove additional traffic to the NASA homepage, NASA's Earth Science homepage and the NASA Facebook and twitter accounts.
NASA's Operation IceBridge
As the multimedia producer for NASA's Operation IceBridge, the largest airborne survey of the Earth's poles ever flown, I was responsible for writing, shooting and editing daily videos from the field. I also contributed to the blog, twitter and Facebook feeds and wrote press releases. I traveled with the crew and science teams to both poles, telling engaging stories about science. Though the project budget did not include support from the Public Affairs Office, I helped make the case for sending a producer who could relay interesting results and garner attention for the mission; after seeing the results we got from the first field campaign together in 2010, they have budgeted for a producer to be on the ground for each campaign since.
